Trip planning has stalled like my father's Camaro in the middle of a traffic signal (true story: my driving), but may occupy me for some weeks yet if we (my husband and I) actually decide to do something about it. BUT! In the meantime, I've got some digital painting updates!!!! Yay! Finally in glorious (not so much) colour! Not much left of my properly finished works to show after this. I jump through periods of productiveness that are interspersed with looooooong sagas of unfinished projects. I might consider putting up some of my sketches.....but then I'd have to scan them.....I'm afraid given my habitual laziness, that extra step will probably be the death of that plan.
Well, I'm not sure what else to put in these Journal things....the updates you can see for yourself....er, it's not exactly a diary (hahah, I have a lot of unfinished ones of those too!).....how about a short story?
Once there was a boy named Blah (I really shouldn't be writing this when I'm sleep deprived, I just kept naming people from the Harry Potter books!). He lived in a village with his fearsome goat-eating dragon named Thor (I've been reading the Brat-Halla webcomic - again). They thought they should go to a movie, but all that was on was The Pirates! Band of Misfits! (Funny movie, saw it the other weekend, loved it! Great animation!), and Thor was afraid of boats. He'd come to Irecotland on a boat when he was just a little wee chicken-roaster with feeble wings, plucked from his mother's claws. He never got over the fear of being in something that if you dare to make even a very liiittle bonfire in, it could come apart and sink right beneath your feat. It was, in fact, how Thor came to be in the care of Blah, as he was walking along the shore that day with his father and the other fishermen, and saved went with them to save everyone from drowning (even though Thor was the only living thing that young Blah could pull into the rowboat). From that day on, Thor never left Blah's side, and they were the best of friends. And best friends don't make you see movies with scary boats in them. So! They decided instead to go for a flight up into the mountains, and hunt a wild goat or two (Is my carnivore showing through? Sorry about that.) It was a beautiful cloudy day, perfect weather for goat hunting, when all of a sudden - I've reached a short moment of clarity here. I should probably just stop and delete this. It's not funny, it's not well told, and it's far too early on a work morning to be doing anything I think is sane. But I can't just leave it unfinished, can I? I'll summarize. So they go up into the mountains, end up rescuing a stranded clown/acrobat cornered by the deadly Gang of Goats, and now have free entertainment whenever the movie theater is playing shows with boats in them! YAY! The End.
Wow, it's been years since I've written anything, it shows. I'd better go to bed. O.O
P.S. All the best stories have dragons in them! No wonder I keep putting them in mine. Dealing With Dragons by Patricia C. Wrede (What an awesome name for a writer! It's like a command! See! Read!) is one of my favourite books from my youth, and I highly recommend it to anyone! And of course, the recent(ish) How to Train Your Dragon Movie (and original book)! I looooooooove Toothless in the movie! Looove looove loove! Okay, really going to bed now!!! Bye!
